Eng. Ftwi played a pivotal role as the Architect, Designer, Implementer, and Trainer for the IRD infrastructure, encompassing:

  • Datacenters: Designed and implemented three interconnected datacenters with state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Enterprise Networks: Architected networks within each datacenter and between sites, ensuring seamless communication and high reliability.
  • Public Access Architecture: Enabled secure public access to services while safeguarding sensitive data.
  • Virtualization: Deployed VMware vSphere for efficient resource utilization and robust system performance.
  • Windows and Linux Infrastructure: Built and managed scalable and secure server environments across Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Load Balancing and High Availability: Ensured system resilience with advanced load balancing and redundancy mechanisms.
  • Replication and Site-to-Site Redundancy: Implemented real-time replication for disaster recovery and fault tolerance.

  • Enterprise Security: Multi-layered protection with firewalls, intrusion detection, MFA, and compliance monitoring.
  • VDI Infrastructure: Scalable virtual desktops with secure remote access and optimized resource utilization.

This infrastructure, by far the largest and most complex in Eritrea, hosts the nation’s largest business application developed by professionals from the Eritrea Institute of Technology.

    • Upgraded and optimized the infrastructure hosting the enterprise application and database.

  4. Full Infrastructure Renewal (2024):
    Collaborated with European software suppliers to completely renew the IRD’s IT infrastructure from the ground up.
